The best surf spots in Bali are mostly on the southern coasts and around the Bukit peninsula. Uluwatu is a classic, famous not only for its top waves but also for its location and the overall experience of surfing with beautiful scenery and Bali’s unique temple landmark. Here’s our compilation of the best surf spots in Bali where you can line up and ride world-class waves together with skilled dudes from around the world.

	Padang Padang Beach Padang Padang Beach is one of Bali’s most famous surf spots, located on the north-western coast of the island’s Bukit Peninsula. This beach features an exotic setting; a simply stunning one hundred meter-long stretch of sand that is accessible down a flight of stairs through a unique hollow rock entrance. The surf has a steady set of barrels during good weather, attracting wave riders from around the world. Part of the group of world-class surf spots that line the coast of the southern peninsula, Padang Padang Beach lies several kilometres in between Bingin and Uluwatu, among which surfers usually hop to interchangeably for a different set of challenges and another thrill for the day. This beach is also a regular spot for international surfing events, the Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang being the most frequent.
	Suluban Beach Not far north from Uluwatu is the secluded surfers’ paradise of Suluban. Suluban, which has acquired the nickname, ‘Blue Point’, is unique and has its own appeal, including a beautiful narrow beach where many sunbathers crowd. Getting to the beach is an adventure down steep staircases and rocky openings that require you to bend down a bit in order to get through. You must first make your way down the narrow path down the somewhat treacherous steps into a cave, then out onto the sand. Balawista lifeguards are on duty at their cliff-top watchtower northwest of the beach, mostly observing the waves and the surfers. Early mornings are usually the best time to go to avoid the crowds and easily ‘claim’ your favorite spots, but it is most scenic at sunset. Head to the clifftops for different vistas.
	Impossibles Beach This famous spot is between Bingin and Padang Padang, and features a long reef. Its nickname implies that it was once an intimidating break, urging experienced surfers to conquer its waves. Impossibles comprises three takeoff zones (or ‘peaks’), the first of which is accessible via Padang Padang (our next spot to the north). The two others are accessible from the spot’s midsection. Here you’ll get long and powerful swells with consistent barrels to enjoy. The waves average two to five feet. Your search for the spot and the challenging surf are all paid off well by the wonderful panorama of its beautiful beach and irregular rock formations.
	Bingin Beach  Bingin Beach is one of Bali’s most popular surf spots, and it’s also one of the island’s hidden beaches, obscured by the rugged limestone cliffs on the southwestern Bukit peninsula. Most people agree it is well worth the effort when they experience the gorgeous beachscapes and exciting waves. When you’re not surfing the sensational reef breaks, Bingin offers a treat for photographers or those simply looking for a place to relax and take in the exotic sunsets. Overland, Bingin Beach offers a somewhat stark and barren topography, but you’ll have the best panoramic bird’s-eye view from the cliff-top. The best time for non-surfers and beach lovers to visit Bingin is during low tide, when much of the stretch of sand is revealed. There are a number of local bars and warungs (traditional food shacks selling cold drinks and light meals) where you can sit back and enjoy splendid views over the coast, featuring scattered boulders and rock pools.
	Balangan Beach Just north from the now crowded and overdeveloped Dreamland Beach, Balangan is a surfing paradise with a kilometre long stretch of white sand and green seaweed covered rocks. The reef is right in front of the beach, and it has southern swells with one of the longest left-hander breaks on the island that range from four to six feet. This surfing paradise attracts wave riders from around the world, who enjoy most of the south-western Bukit coastline together with Balangan’s sister breaks of Dreamland, Impossibles, Padang Padang, Suluban and Uluwatu further south. Non-surfers can simply enjoy the view and the coast itself, with parasol-shaded beach beds available for rent, or you can simply bask under the sun, and bury yourself in the soft sand. At low tide, the reef near the limestone cliffs reveal exotic seaweed covered rock formations and pools, offering even more dramatic sunset angles.
